Greetings from Deacon John

Thank you to all those who have welcomed me to Holy Name Parish.  My name is John Doomernik and I have been asked to tell you something about myself.

First of all it is my great joy and blessing to be married to Sandy for 56 years. We are blessed with 1 daughter, 2 sons, and 8 wonderful grandchildren.

I was born in the city of ‘sHertogenbosch in the Netherlands in 1945 and my parents immigrated to Canada in 1956 settling in Toronto.

I have been an active parishioner at Corpus Christi Parish in Toronto and then at St. Mary’s Parish in Simcoe since moving there in early 1980.

Approximately 20 years ago I retired from my career as a professional engineer with Ontario Power Generation at the Nanticoke Generation Station.

I began my training to become a deacon in September 2001 at St. Peter’s Seminary in London.  On November 5, 2005 I was ordained in the Diocese of London by Bishop Ronald Fabbro as a Permanent Deacon.

My wife and I have temporarily moved to Toronto to be with our granddaughter as she completes high school.  I look forward to being part of Holy Name Parish over the next couple of years.

Yours in Christ,

Deacon John.
