CHILDREN’S LITURGY of the WORD
2026
CHILDREN’S PROGRAM
PRETZELS FOR LENT
The children participating in the Children’s Liturgy Program next Sunday, (March 8) will be baking pretzels to share at the hospitality time after Mass. The baking of pretzels is a Lenten tradition in the Church, dating back to the Middle Ages, when monks in Germany, Austria and Poland would bake pretzels as a form of Lenten treat for the people. The shape of the pretzels is the shape of human arms crossed in prayer. Pretzels remind us that Lent is a time for prayer.
A small handout with a pretzel recipe and prayer will be available after Mass next Sunday to anyone who is interested.

CHANGE TO SCHEDULING OF THE CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Fr. Eric has proposed that we have one Sunday per month where we do not have a separate Liturgy of the Word (downstairs) for the children. On that Sunday, Fr. Eric will plan to tailor the 10 am Mass and homily more to the children in the congregation, perhaps calling the children up close to the sanctuary for the homily. This would be one Sunday each month where the children would be together with their families, and Fr. Eric can speak somewhat directly to the children and families.
The 2 Sundays where the children will stay upstairs and not have a separate Liturgy of the Word (at the 10 am Mass), will be March 15th and Easter Sunday, April 5th . The Children’s Liturgy of the Word (downstairs) will continue on all the other Sundays.
