Step 2 of Participation in Jubilee Campaign On the weekend of March 15-16, 2025, parishioners were invited to take Step 1 in the World-Wide Jubilee Campaign. Development and Peace’s Lenten Campaign supports this Jubilee Campaign called “Turn Debt Into Hope”. Many parishioners have already signed the Petition which calls for : Cancellation of Debt of the poorest countries in the world. Establishment of a mechanism for debt resolution within the United Nations.Prevention of future cycles of unsustainable debt.
This weekend, April 5-6, we are invited to take another Step – to make a donation to the work of Development and Peace and its partners in the Global South. These partners address the root causes of poverty, oppression and inequality. Donations help empower communities with social, economic and ecological resilience. Fairer, stronger and greener communities make countries less vulnerable to indebtedness.
Two partners in Peru help communities affected by extractive industries to defend and assert their rights. A partner in Tunisia helps people to demand fairer policies to promote sustainable development that benefits everyone. Donations actually change lives, and go straight to the hearts of those in greatest need.
Recognizing that you are also being invited to contribute, through ShareLife, to ministries within the Toronto area, we hope you can also open your hearts to the Global South where so many are oppressed by Debt. Donation Envelopes will be found in the pews. You can also donate online at <devp.org/give>
